Connecting Alternmail Calendar and Contacts to Apple Mail (iPhone)

Follow these steps to set up your Alternmail calendar and contacts in Apple Mail on your iPhone:

 

 

1. Open Settings on Your iPhone

  • Locate and tap the Settings on your iPhone's home screen

  • Scroll down and tap Apps

  • In the list of apps, tap Mail

 

 

2. Go to Accounts

  • Tap Mail Accounts

 

 

3. Add a New Account

  • Tap Add Account.

  • Select Other from the list of account types

 

 

4. Add CardDAV Account (for Contacts)

  1. Click Add CardDAV Account

  2. Fill in the following details:

  • Server: Enter mail.alternmail.com

  • Username: Enter your full Alternmail email address (e.g., yourname@alternmail.com)

  • Password: Enter your Alternmail account password 

  • Description: Enter a description for the account (e.g., "Alternmail Contacts").

Tap Next and wait for the verification to complete

After verification is complete, you will see a prompt asking what you would like to do with the local contacts on your iPhone.

Select the option to Keep on My iPhone (if you want to keep them).

If prompted, confirm any security settings or certificates

 

 








5. Add CalDAV Account (for Calendar)

  1. Click Add CalDAV Account.

  2. Fill in the following details:

  • Server: Enter mail.alternmail.com

  • Username: Enter your full Alternmail email address (e.g., yourname@alternmail.com)

  • Password: Enter your Alternmail account password

  • Description: Enter a description for the account (e.g., "Alternmail Calendar")

Tap Next

After verification is complete, you will be prompted to choose whether you want to sync both calendars and reminders or just one of them.

Once you make your selection, you will be prompted to decide what to do with the local calendars and reminders on your iPhone.

Choose the option to Keep on My iPhone (if you want to keep them).

If prompted, confirm any security settings or certificates

 

 

6. Verify Accounts Are Connected

  • Go back to the Accounts section in Settings.

  • Check that both the CardDAV (Contacts) and CalDAV (Calendar) accounts appear in the list and are active.

 

 

7. Open Apple Mail, Calendar, or Contacts App

  • Open the Calendar or Contacts app to verify that your Alternmail data is syncing correctly.

  • Allow some time for the sync to complete, especially if you have a lot of data.
